| Fandom Character Character Name: Martha Jones Character Age: 25 Point in Canon: Just after series four of Doctor Who Birthday: 18th Feb 1984 Brief History: Martha Jones first met the Doctor (tenth) at the hospital in which she was training to be a doctor when the hospital was taken to the moon by intergalactic police looking for a fugitive. She impressed him enough during this time that he offered to take her on a single trip as a thank you. One trip soon turned into many, though Martha decided to leave the Doctor shortly after saving the Earth during the year that never was owing to her being in love with him and him treating her as second best to Rose all the time. Having left the Doctor to get on with her own life she was offered a job at UNIT (a military operation set up to deal with alien invasions) owing to her experiences with the Doctor (she’s also fairly sure the Doctor put a good word in for her). She rose quickly in the ranks of UNIT thanks to her hands on experience of space and time travel and medical talent. Whilst working for UNIT she also helped out Torchwood briefly (as a friend of Jack‘s), during this time she discovered her time travelling with the Doctor had positively affected her immune system. Shortly after her time at Torchwood she returned to UNIT to be made Chief Medical Officer for Project Indigo, a teleportation devise. It was during this time that the Dalek’s invaded Earth and part of Martha’s job was to destroy the world as all seemed hopeless. Luckily however she did not carry out her job, having learned from the Doctor that there is always another way.
